Welcome to the Siamsa Montreal School of Irish Music

Siamsa (pronounced “shee-am-sa”) is Irish for 'pleasant musical diversion'

We offer weekly group classes in traditional Irish music. You can join us for a night of traditional dance during our ceilis, which are held during the fall, winter, and spring. We also play music at informal jam sessions all year round!

Aidan Connolly (fiddle) & Bryan O'Leary (accordion)

Siamsa welcomes two leading performers of trad Irish music!

Aidan Connolly, from Dublin, has received widespread acclaim for his distinctive fiddle playing, and was nominated for Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Folk Awards in 2022.

Bryan O'Leary, a native of Tureencahill in County Kerry, is widely regarded as one of the leading accordion players of his generation, named TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2015, and is the grandson of the legendary Sliabh Luachra accordion player, Johnny O’Leary.

Both musicians are experienced educators and have been invited as guest teachers at institutions including the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (University of Limerick) and University College Cork. They regularly teach at music festivals and workshops in Ireland and abroad.

They are offering two workshops - music of Kerry and fiddle technique. Workshops are subject to minimum enrollment
